The sunset bathed the sky in its orange light, and the land glowed a warm tone from the reflected light off the clouds.

Everything was in warm, toned down, orange. I meant everything. It just so happen that I was walking into my kitchen to grab some sweets and I saw what outside was like. Nice! And pretty! So I grabbed my camera and hurried outside to snap afew shots. Didn’t want to go too far in case I missed this golden moment, I quickly found a spot and took afew shots of the beautiful colour the sunset gave to the hills and land. And within 5 mins … the warm orange tone turned to grey, dull and boring shadows.

Had a chance to do a photoshoot for close friends and couple Melissa & YK, and a R6 Racer last week. It was busy and it was FUN! The kind of busy I like. Now getting on with the post processing and development of the photos.

A Most Auspicious Day … according to some

This sounds like fun to do! Basically, take a photo on October 10th, 2010 and whenever you’re ready, upload your photo(s) to the Flickr group TenTenTen. The pool will open from 10th – 20th Oct, so ten days to upload your photo(s). Then from Oct 11th onwards hchamp.com will randonly choose a photo from the group to display on their site. Sounds cool!

… exciting things have happened lately in the past few weeks/months. Just thinking back to them now, it feels like time flew by leaving only memories and pictures as proof that I was along with the ride. But I couldn’t ask for a better past few weeks / months. They were AWESOME! Travelling, wedding, travelling, family photoshoot and fashion photoshoot. And later on, more travelling! Though only interstates but it’s different to where I am. Rediscover a place I’ve been before and going to new places bring alot of excitement and a breath of freshness to my world of boredom at work. Yes, with work being the same everyday, politics going on left, right and centre, it’s all getting abit too much. I want out! I want to be away from here. I want something new. Travelling is my escape … at least for a few days. And hopefully I’d be refreshed to last until my next trip But besides work, it was all exciting and my first trip this year was to Sydney.

Sydney was great! Got to see my old friend Noel and Siew again, and we hung out. Cathing up on what we’ve done since my wedding day afew months back. Went out to a great restaurant and seeing more of Sydney than before. Sydney has so much more to offer and thoughts of moving to Sydney have crossed my mind. After settling into my new place, it’s hard to just leave again and not enjoy the new place at the very least for a year or two. I didn’t feel like moving everything to a new place. I wanted to just relax, be in my comfort zone for awhile and soak in the new place I have bought together with my wife. I wanted calmness and I got it in this place. 3 days in Sydney and back again to Adelaide. But not for long …

Melbourne – ISO 2000, 1/200s, f8 @ 24mm | D700 24-70mm

Next trip was to Melbourne. This was alot of fun!! 5 of us went for an extended weekend. We stayed at an apartment with a view of the Yarra River and the Crown Casino. The city looked amazing at night staring out of the window. Looking at the Crown casino, I can see the hourly fire show it has; a ball of fire blows out of about 6 cements poles. Shopping (of course), tried many places for food, alot of walking, site seeing and picture taking. I noticed Melbourne has many beautiful old buildings. Some were grand and some were just magnificent to look at (more pictures of Melbourne here).

Sunrise at Byron Bay – ISO 200, 1/800s, f2.8 @ 50mm | D700 24-70mm

Afew weeks later, off to Brisbane for work. 3 days staying at the suburb of Toowong. Then a weekend at my cousin’s place. They took me to Byron Bay on Saturday morning – 4am!! That was a challenge; to wake up at 3am when I only slept at 12am! We drove down Pacific Highway to NSW and arrived at Byron Bay just in time for the sunset. It was a magnificent site to watch for the sunrise and I couldn’t be happier. My cousins were all smiles too as we stood there and watched. Byron Bay is also mainland Australia’s most easterly point! So I couldn’t ask for a better place to watch a sunrise. It was beautiful and I encourage all of you to visit. It is a great place. Photographers, put this as a place to go!

So, after visiting Byron Bay, I set myself a goal – to visit the most northerly, southerly and westerly point of mainland Australia (where reachable) in my life time. I had a look at Google Maps the other day, and some places are unreachable. May be as years come by it may be available then to reach that point, but for now, I’ll reach as far as I can. Spending time in Brisbane with my cousins Ernestine, Stella and Kiat Loon was fantastic over the course of the weekend. It has been such a long time since we met up and had a good chat about anything and everything. All the laughs and jokes we had are still fresh in my head and I smile everytime I think back. What a great bunch! I miss them. I hope there will be many of these ‘gatherings’ and we will never forget to update each other what happened in our lives. Love you guys.

My travelling for this year hasn’t stopped yet. A trip to Perth is on my schedule and also another trip to Sydney. It has been quite a time for travelling for the last few months and now thinking about the trips we want to have or have planned for the rest of the year, it doesn’t look like we’re slowing down Hopefully, we’ll travel further next year – Europe! Oh how I love my explorations …

It’s a been awhile since I’ve posted something. Been having too much fun doing my photo a day that I rarely have enough time to write. Though I keep forgeting that whenever I post something up on flickr I can post it here straight away too! But anyway …

My Photographic Goals for 2010

1. Don’t leave my camera. I have it with me all the time

2. Shoot a Photo a Day. I’m trying and will try to shoot a Photo a Day. (I do shoot a photo a day, but they may not be worthy of showing. So may be ‘Shoot a worthy Photo a Day’?)

3. Enter more competitions. It’s good fun and may win something.

4. Create a photo book a month. Already started creating my personal portfolio. Maybe will try to create the photo book. See how.

5. Challenge myself with flash lighting. This is another world of photography I’m getting myself into.

6. Follow a regular photo blog-posting schedule. I’m posting on a regular basis. Usually once a week (or more), dropping my thoughts down on a blog with pictures and descriptions (http://imagesbytimc.wordpress.com)

7. Develop a post processing workflow. This has always challenged me. Sometimes I do it in Lightroom and sometimes in Photoshop. I need a systematic work flow that is efficient.

8. Make personal postcards to send friends. This will be fun. Hope they will like it and enjoy it

I’ve started some of them already, like #2 – A Photo A Day. Quite fun and sometimes challenging to capture an image a day. Sometimes I run out of ideas … But so far I’ve pulled it off by finding things in the last minutes of the day to photograph.

Alot of friends in my Facebook are loving the “A Photo A Day”, which is very encouraging and also making it fun to do. I get to play with my camera everyday and not only in events. Hopefully, some of them will join me and it will make this even more interesting – to see what they’ve photograph for the day

Her new piano

She got it yesterday. She is so excited she has one now, that she can play and practice again. She missed her piano dearly and was quite eager to get back to it. Bringing her old music books out and looking at new ones. I was happy for her too that she gets to play her favourite instrument. I have great music to listen to now and look forward to listen to new ones she has or will have
